Mr. Scratch and the Satanic panic

Well - I just watched the newest episode of Criminal Minds titled Mr. Scratch. Directed by Matthew Gray Gubler it is the 21st episode of Season Ten.

To try not to spoil anything I'll be brief. 3 people have killed someone close to them and all report smelling sage and then seeing a shadow monster with huge talons attack their loved ones. All of the victims have come from the same childhood horrors with it's roots in the "Satanic Panic" of the 80's. The Episode becomes very personal for one member of the BAU and it could end in disaster.

Huge kudos to M.G.G for the direction of this episode. It's not overly graphic, but is actually full of quite scary imagery. Also, as with other episodes directed by M.G.G, there is homage paid to other works of horror. In this case the surnames of guest characters are also the surnames of characters from The Exorcist. Another case is when the home town of a victim is revealed to be Derry, Maine, the town Stephen King created as the backdrop for IT.

This episode was really creative and actually made me a little jumpy. I highly recommend watching this. Congratulations, you may have made a grown woman terrified of the dark.

Unfriended - Smells like Teen spirit

Last night I went out and actually paid money to see Unfriended, the teenage horror flick about the ghost of a girl who was bullied and committed suicide and is back a year later to seek revenge on those who wronged her.

First things first, the entire movie is shot on facebook and a group skype conversation, and the point of view you get is a girl who, for more than half the movie, spends her time freaking out and looking at forums and not reading them because she's freaking out.

Second: all of this movies drama comes from High School - Being unfaithful, having sex on prom night, getting drunk and calling each other sluts. Unfriended was full of plot holes and unoriginal deaths.

I give the movie props for being a more original "Found-Footage" type movie - but in the end this movie was not worth the headache or the loss of funds.

Vegetarian Zombies search for Grains.

The phrase 'Use it or Lose it' comes to mind when I think of how much time and money I have spent in my pursuit of living Halloween everyday and I figured that you either get busy blogging or you get busy dying.

First things first, I have little to no self-respect and watch everything from true masterpieces by Hitchcock and from Vincent Price or I do a 180 and watch absolute shit. The same for books and Television. And you will get to hear all about it twice a week
